Modesty

The Arabic word Haya can be translated as meaning modesty.

This word covers a number of concepts; it may also mean self-respect, bashfulness, honor, dignity, not boastful, lack of arrogance and humility.

Some scholars explain that there are 2 types of Haya:

  1. The good type which is to not do or commit a thing which is forbidden by God and His messengers(as) described in the religious books
  2. The bad type is  to abstain from doing what God commanded you to do.

Revisiting Alternative Medicine

Alternative medicine is also called traditional medicine or folk medicine. The UN World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that more than 75% of the world's population is entirely treated by traditional medicine whilst the other 25% will use some aspect of it as 'complementary' medicine. Certainly traditional medicine (eg herbal medicines, relaxation therapy, aromatherapy, etc) is gaining in popularity in the West.

Polygamy in Western Europe

"Marry women of your choice. Two, three or four. However, if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with them, then only one (or a captive) that your right hand possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice." Qur'an 4:3
