I had a breakdown on Saturday....i had THE most important audition for this kick ass opera company...and right before I left my apartment for the audition...I went to iron my dress and the iron sparked and my dress caught on fire and pretty much blew up. Now...I tried to stay positive and went to the audition in what I could put together which mind you was a long skirt and a nice top...but they booted me out because they thought I looked unprofessional.
The day before, I got called back to New Jersey Opera...the director sent me to the garment district for a costume fitting and the costume designer said I was too tall and booted me out.
It makes me sad...cuz i do opera because I love the music...but sadly even this artform has become about image and superficiality and a business...the people that run it have forgotten about the beauty of music.
So...I'm trying to figure it out. the more I pursue music as a career, the more my passion for it is being sucked out right out...
have lots of thinking to do.
