They think it's all over...

Well, that's the last we'll see of Open championship golf in my home town for another 8 years...congratulations to Padraig Harrington for his win.

I must say that, even though I'm not a golfing fan, I'll miss the vibe around the place - I think I'll shed a tear when I see the tents coming down. It was really strange, but at the same time really exciting, to see so many people (running close to 100,000) of so many nationalities (I heard Australian, American, Canadian, Scandinavian and German accents in the local bars) in a wee town which normally houses about 12,000.

I am, however, gutted that my aim of shaking Brad Pitt's hand did not bear fruit - the only celebs I spotted were Alan Shearer and Craig Doyle. When the latter walked into the pub we were in on Saturday, the ladies in our party started screaming like banshees. I have no idea why - what has he got that I haven't?

Ha! Yeah, I should really cut back on local colloquialisms when posting blog entries..."gutted" is basically a British word that kind of means sad or disappointed, but a bit annoyed at the same time. Basically, when I said I was "gutted" that I didn't meet Mr Pitt, it didn't mean that my insides were removed...Tongue out
