The British Open Golf Championship, featuring Tiger Woods et al, is currently being played in my home town of Carnoustie, so I thought I'd take a walk downtown to see if I could celeb-spot, given that there have been rumours that a few Hollywood faces such as George Clooney, Michael Douglas and Sean Connery are allegedly supposed to be attending. Unfortunately, the only "face" I saw was the bloke who presents the local news. And he looked a bit drunk.
Anyway, here are a few photos...

The above signs, which appear on main roads into the town (the two above are situated at the end of my road) have caused a bit of a stir - some people like them, some hate them, but I'm fine with them. Each advertises the county of Angus via a silly golfing pun (i.e. our famous strawberries get the line "hit the sweet spot"). For any ladies out there, steady yourselves, as another of the signs is represented by Scotsmen in kilts:

I also took a wander along the beach, a place I spent much of my childhood - happy days! This is a view looking North East - if you kept swimming in this direction, you'd end up in Norway. Well, actually, you'd probably drown before you got there.

And finally, this photo shows the view of the mouth of the River Tay. The town in the far distance on the grey/blue strip of land (which you probably can't make out) is another famous Scottish golfing town, and where Prince William went to university - St Andrews.
