The oppression of women in Iran has added more fuel to the fire; it has hindered the economical and social growth of the country in many ways… They are disciplinary laws made specifically for women based on dishonest interpretations of the Islamic Sharia laws that allow men to suppress and abuse women in barbaric ways- all in the name of God! Women have been taken away basic human rights and this has left our children confused and hopeless. But despite of the oppression and brutalization, Iran’s women movement is emerging and has gained momentum and attention from the West over the past few years thanks to growing activism… So, there is hope; change may come- inshallah!

I think that whenever you attempt to limit the full potential of half a population of people, there will be a massive impact on the vitality of cultural, economic, social development, etc.

Every action has a reaction. Short term women suffer and generations will be wasted. Long term ... Iranian society will evolve and become more democratic with equal rights for all women. Iranian women are extremely indepedent and can fight a smart fight!

This limitation is mostly result of poor traditional thoughts of ourselves rather than governmental rules.  Of course limiting women means giving up a big percentage of the energy coming from population and this impacts the economy, culture and level of satisfaction factor among residents.

Obviously Iran is paying a huge cost by limiting half of it population.I agree with persian queen that government is not the only one to blame. We are all stakeholders ,we can make the change at society happen by seeing our mothers, sisters ,wives and colleagues as equal and helping them reaching their full potential.
