What a great question! I believe that Western Iranian TV has as much influence on youth in Iran as overall media has on people in general. Because of Western influences maybe Iranian youth have gained more courage to liberate themselves and demand change to bring about democracy. On the other hand, Western media has had many negative influences on Iranians, because of the negative portrayal of Iranians in the West. Iranian youth are moving away from cultural traditions and becoming "westernized", which is another controversy...

My mom told me that during the last elections in Iran, Western Iranian media (satellite TV) was encouraging people NOT to vote, to boycott the elections, so that Ahmadinejad wouldn’t not be voted. But then the boycott left more votes for the Akhoonds (Muslim clerics)...and that’s how came to power…
I guess the West always has had a great influence on Iran.

the western iranial tv should have bigger role to broadcast the history of our nation and our culture  the pure  oriental  culture .   but  unfortunately   these tv s not  doing  so , they  just   trying  to  follow the  western culture with its  bad  side  only  and  neglecting  the  other  good  side .

do  the  new  generation know  that  the persian nation  participate  in  building  up  the  western  culture ?
it  is  shame  on  us  iranian  to learn  from  western  ,  we  have  our own , and  the  best  culture ,  we  have  teached  the  arab  nations  how  to  think  and  how    to  live ,    and  exported  our  culture  to  all  over  the  world .

I don't think that the Western culture is the best among all. Actually I have utmost respect for our culture. I do believe, however, that the West has had a big impact on our culture just like on many other cultures...whether that's a good or bad thing is a matter of belief and perception...
