it means to me a holy month in which we should ask Allah forgiviness. Family time and donating to charities. its hard but as muslims we should do it. we should be good all the time but in this month especially we should follow our religion.

Ramadan is just one of the countless ancient practices that  began   in the ancient times. It   does not benefit the person who practices it. It does not benefit society or human kind. The only group of people that benefit from it, is the arab rulers, whose main interest is to have as many  blind followers as possible, because, the more followers these rulers recruit, the stronger their power base is, and the wealthier they become.
Many muslims want  the world to believe that ramadan is the period of peace, but histrory of islam clearly shows that while muslims want the other people to observe ramadan and cease hostility toward muslims, muslims doen't reciprocate. In fact, just in the past few days, you see bombings in India, in Iraq, in Pakistan.... These horrific murderous crimes are committed by muslims, on their so called holiday.
The only way for the world to have long lasting peace, is to expose the ugliness of islam, so every muslim know the history of this so called religion. It is a ruthless oppression  that disguise as a religion.

      Ayeshakhan,
I know that we all have opinions, but ccan we truly speak to what benefits the soul of another? For many Ramadan is a Holy Day and if we look to virtually EVERY faith, there have been atrocities committed in the name of that belief. It does not make all that practice the belief wrong.
"Many Muslims want the world to believe that Ramadan is a period of peace" because for them it is. Is it not a trap to fall into thinking that the action of a few defines all?
I'm sorry if you have had experiences that have brought you to this point and this outlook, but I hope that you can one day see the good (and the God) of those who you have condemned without ever knowing.

I find Ramadan very beneficial: for me it is a time of re-evaluation of self and what's around me. Alhamdullilah I am healthy enough to do it.  I am thankful of God's mercy and to my parents who raise me as a muslim in non-muslim environment and taught me the importance of giving and sharing, and working for the common good, no matter what, and avoiding Allah's displeasure. I find Ramadan very potent in establishing my religious identity on earth, just as wearing the hijab for the sake of Allah, subhanahuwata'ala. Allah kareem.

Ramadan means a chance to have a chance to connect with god so may be if you lucky you can win a ticket to a tiny place in haven since most people do  not live to see Ramadan , if they made it to Ramadan they do not pray or fast  and if they did fast and prayed most of our time we do not do it right and Ramadan is such Kareem month because for sure we all know that the skyDoors to haven is open for sur we know that angels visit us to check on the belivers and all islamic people also it is the most holy month because el Quran first  exsisted than was taught to humen creation so you see Ramadan is every beliver chance to have a home in haven and the chance to feel the love of god and that havenly connection it is peace it is joy it is piece of haven. so to all of you out there pary and pary right and a lot do not waist one moment of ramadan time without having minimum the word allah on your mind  sing it think it say it and sabe7 be ismeh ta3ala . do not sleep just  close your eyes and let your mind sing allah we akbar allahhhhhhhhhh  ya salam beautiful just try it and see how you feel

    Ramadan

"O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may guard against evil....The month of Ramadan is that in which the Qur'an was revealed, a guidance to men and clear proofs of the guidance and the Criterion...."

    Holy Quran, Chapter 2, Verses 183 & 185

Each year as Ramadan comes around it is anticipated with joy, as I look forward to a period of thirty days where the obligation of fasting as instructed by Allah is imposed on self.

For me it is a period of imposing discipline, for the removal of bad habits that have crept into a regimented self-imposed way of life during the year. It is an opportunity to read the Holy Qur'an from front to cover, one section at a time, each morning after waking up and doing fajr prayer, then learning wisdom and knowledge from the Creator.

It is a time where I am enjoying the time from the rising of the sun to its setting, abstaining from food and drink and being imbibed html_removed with a spirit that allows me to focus more intensely, concentrate deeper and reflect more on Allah's glorious Creation and consider that the intensity of the duration of the fast is akin to the reality of the time in which we are living.

The month of Ramadan from my understanding is the time period when the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH - Peace by upon him) as a Healing for the people living on the Arabian penninsula to take them out of darkness into the glorious light of knowledge, wisdom and understanding.

In essence it is a Book which provides healing and purification for men and women of understanding willing to submit their inferior knowledge to that of the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth.

Ramadan is meant for the healing and purification of a people and nation thereby benefitting the country as a whole. However, as food and water nourish and sustain the body, the intensity of the duration for abstinence is a sign of the life and blood of this nation which sustains it, and how progressively the absence of life sustaining principles, is evident in the way this nation is heading into the abyss of death and destruction as she continues and prepares for war in the East and in the Caucasus Region.

Ramadan is a blessed and holy period, a time for reflection and making positive changes. But for the believer and non-believer can we see this time period as a period to enjoy, fighting and overcoming the desires of the flesh and heart, or will we see it as a burden.

Surely man is made to face difficulty...but he climbs not the uphill road.

    Peace.

Ramadan Shahrun unzila feehi al Qur'an (Ramadan is the month the Qur'an was sent down to mankind from the almighty god).

To me this month is very personal. A personal connection between myself and Allah SWT. My fasting and du3aa is something that is done for my own personal connection with Allah. Only he knows what I am doing for his sake, so no one else can judge or say "oh you didn't do this or you didn't do that etc" because they cannot possibly know anything whatsoever. Afteral, they are only humans themselves and we all make our own mistakes in life.

Ramadan means nothing to me I am a Christian however I believe that it shoud be observed in the same manner as Christianity as long Muslims give the same respect to Christianity and Jewishness where they predominate which they do not.  Christian and Jews are bein persecuted in Mohamedan majority country and are in danger of their lives.  If Mohamedans want respect they shoul show the same to others.

Hi Richard. Getting to know and understand what Ramadan means to over 2 billion Muslims would greatly help you and then give you an appreciation of why we are instructed by Allah to fast for 30 days, from sun-up until night. Please enlighten us, as I am unaware of any similarity or anything comparable in the Christian Faith, where fasting is prescribed for thirty days as to why Muslims should observe Ramadan "in the same manner as Christianity."

What experiences have you had or know of, where Muslims do not give respect to Christians or Jews "where they predominate?" And please provide proof of the persecution of Christians and Jews by Muslims as 'Muslims' are forbidden to persecute anyone unless they are being persecuted.

Who are the Mohamedans? Muslims do not worship Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh), they worship and give praise to Allah, The Most High, The Incomparable, The Destroyer, The Avenger all titles of the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth.

As Muslims we should respect all people regardless as we are commanded by Allah to not act unjustly to a people and most Muslims live by this principle, except that they have deviated from the path and instructions of Allah.

      Looking forward to your reply.

It is the month were hearts become tender and full of kindness and joy because if we follow the true teachings of Islam, Ramadan is not only a month to refrain from food and water only, but a month to refrain from all bad habits and bad deeds including and limited to profanity, or harming others.
If we can do the right things for a month we should be able to do it all the time, every day of our lives.
Ramadan has many healthy issues as well if we follow it according to the teachings of profit Mohammad (SWT) (PBUH).
Since Ramadan is the month in which the Koran was descended to the profit MOHAMMAD (SWT) (PBUH); therefore it is a month of celebration as well.

I lost an Uncle on the aircraft from Boston that crashed into the World Trade Center and I live next to where a new mosque is being built.  The organization building it has twiced used an Imam as a fund raising speaker that was a character witness for the blind Shiekh who was found guilty of masterminding the first attack on the WTC.  The group in question will not display an american flag on it's web site and has refused to join the rest of us in my community on 911 to remember those who died.  Many of the Jewish faith were there.   Am I angry you bet you are I was not before that I spent two years in Turkey and was engaged to a young lady of your faith and my life was threatened several times because i was a Christian, the hate from your community drove us apart, Am I angry, you bet I am and until you Mohamedans stop hating us and show a sincere effort to stop this labeling us as infidels I will do the same.  I know that the proper term is Islam or Muslim and I will use it when I see you Mohamedans make a change and start beling civilized to others who do not share your beliefs.  I find it interesting that you asked me to show proof of the killing of Christians and Jews in Mohamedan dominated countries: Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Sudan, and Iran and I noticed that you conveniently avoided defending their policy of killing what Mohamedans consider infidels.  I lived in the village of Adana Turkey for two years and had several familites of real Muslims who accepted me as an equal not a infidel, until it came time for me to marry and it was not those families that threatened my life it was outside terrorist zealots who's sole purpose in life is to kill kill kill.  Until such time as Mohamedans stand up loud and clear and condemn the deadly terrorism from Mecca and Medina and stop this attempt to silence those of other faiths I will continue to call you Mohamedans, in my book you will have to earn the name Muslim or Islam.  Now as you asked for proof from me of my contentions now I ask you to show me proof that the real Muslim has condemned all this violence that they inflict on those you call infidels and even those of your own faith. I have not seen any Mohamedans beheaded in the United States for their belief, those who have broken the law received due process convicted under the laws of the country that they chose to try to destroy.

Richard; I appreciate your honesty of how you feel about Muslims due to 9-11, just as a FYI, before I continue I am US ARMY Veteran, and I am proud of my service, but let's not take a few peoples mistakes make all Muslims bad, I also treated you with respect and did not call you a Crusader, or the Muslim killer of the middle ages, but I still treated you with respect,  As of to your experience with a Muslim girl's family in Turkey; a very similar situation happened to me but a a larger scale; I got married to an American girl when I was in college, we loved each other and had a couple of children, but the whole time her mother kept on interfering with our marriage and kept on felling her head with the fact that we were unequally yoked according to the Bible eventually she got to her which end up breaking our family apart but you still don't hear me call all Christians bad people.
So Mr. Richard the behavior of few bad people made you forget the teaching of the Bible; of treating people with Kindness. where Islam teaches the same.
and to answer your statement of Muslims calling you infidels, this means UNBELIEVER in English where you are none believer of the Islamic faith and refuse to even to listen to someone to give you some ideas about Islam.
Richard let's not let the greed and ignorance of some people make us all bad wheteher those people are running countries,  companies or just plain people just like you and I.

I don't mind being called a Crusader, I have been a crusader for just causes such as equal rights for all not the kind of Crusader that Mohamedans keep accusing us of being today.  If working for live and let live is being a crusader than I will wear it on my sleeve.  I condemn all killings of all kinds even beheadings which Mohamedans continue to do in this modern age.  When will you grow up and realize that you will not succeed in making all the world Mohamedans.  I find it very interest being a news junkie to tonice that most of the terrorism and rioting that is going on Mohamedans are right in the middle of it.  I find it incedible that Sunni's kill Shites and vice versa women are treated as 2nd class citizens, in some cases denied the right to education, they are even shot or stones in public in soccer arenas such barbarism shows me that Mohamedans have not grown up yet.  So call me a Crusader all you want I am proud of my crusades to bring about equal rights for women and men of all races and creeds and I don't force those not of my faith to convert or die.  What a childish belief and it comes from the Koran.  It will take a lot of convincing on your part to show me that you deserve the respect you are looking for.  It will not come from wholesale murder and beheadings and bombings.  If you are trying to denegrate me by calling me a Crusader it will not work, I will not riot and break windows and destroy property and take lives becauser of the label and You can show pictures of Christ and that will not give me reason to break the law.  When Mohamedans achieve that kind of maturity they I will call you Muslims or members of Islam.

Dear Richard; I am not trying to change your mind about anything, but it appears to me that you are full of anger and hate not just Muslims, but against many other people, and all I ask of you is to go back to your roots and read the bible it may open up your heart a little and you may see the light of a true Christian rather and may help you get rid of your anger,
I always Thank God that I am a Muslim and that I have turned my life back to Islam rather than following my daily desires; I state this to you that in every religion there is a place of peace and even Christianity calls all others infidels so don't try come across like you know Bible, to tell you the truth I more than likely know the Bible more than you do and more than a lot of preachers, I have studied the Bible in English and Arabic, and I wish you will give yourself a chance to study either the Quran or the Bible.
Like I stated to you before I am not going to degrade you and call you names or stoop down the level of name calling.
I am not going to call anyone who stands for oneself as a bad person, because the methods may have changed but the goal is one. We as Americans fraught the British to gain our freedom and we called our fighters as freedom fighters; but the British called terrorist, do you see the correlation now.
I know you will come back and say that is different, but none of us will feel the pain until it hits home; I hated what happened on 9-11, and I wish I can go back and change time but that will be impossible.

Many people kill in the name of God. but it does not mean it is the right thing, and those people should punished.
To your statement about people were forced into Islam believe you me you have your facts crossed that is that Christian have killed more people in the name of Christianity, and have attacked many parts of the world and the last proof of my statement look at BOSNIA and you till me that was not done in the name of Christianity.
Were to women being treated unfairly I think you must live in a sheltered society or in a box with no windows or doors, you have not watched T.V recently; look at women how they are being treated as a sex object and nothing else, if a woman has to show run around half naked that makes have freedom more power to that women and for sure that would not be the kind of woman I would bring home to meet my Mom,
A woman's dignity is when she goes to work or to the store not to be harassed or being chased by mop of idiots to look at her behind or any other part of her body.
a woman is dignified by  her deeds just like a man but not by the way she looks or by running around half naked, and to inform you that Islam makes sure that we respect women.  Islam is the 1st religion to give women rights, I can not recall of any passage in the Bible or the teachings of any Christian scholars giving women rights, but Islam has done that.
any way this is enough about Islam, let's talk about you now.
I would like to know more about you and may be I can help you overcome the anger and hatred issues you have with yourself. Like I have told you before you need to open your heart and your eyes and listen to the Bible before I even ask you to learn about Islam, because you are taking a section of an ayah from Sura and taking it out of context to make it fit your needs I can do that with verses from the Bible but I will not disrespect the Bible by doing so.
I just want you to know to be a Muslim you have to believe in the previous books from God, and his Profits all the way back to ADAM (ALIHE ALSALAM) so please get down from the pedstal your standing on thinking that you are better than anyone else; because we all are humans no matter what colofr race creed or religion we are.
WE ALL LOVE OUR COUNTRY  "USA" and God bless America,
     P.S.
as a final note ISlam means peace and do wish you will read about Islam or listen to some of the stories of Americans who revert to Islam Such as YUSUF ISLAM (AKA CAT STEVENS) or YUSUF ESTES, and many others.
and I want you to know that studying Christianity is what turned my life back to Islam, and I always thank GOD for opening my eyes, and I ask him to help you seek the truth and help you replace anger and hatered with peace of in your heart and mind, and may GOD help come to see the truth no matter were you seek and or find it.

GOD BLESS YOU AND GOOD LUCK. Insha'Allah.

      Richard,
I have sat here for the last few days and said nothing, because I truly believe that there are people who spout negativity solely for the reaction. I still believe that you are this type of person. However, at some point you cross the line of respectability. I am a Christian, but I know that some serious atrocities have been done in the name of Christianity. Hitler justified many of his actions based on Biblical principles. Slavery was justified using Biblical principles and the angry hatred of people who condemn other faiths is somehow based in their understanding of Biblical principles.

You know, Malcolm X was an extremist when it came to the Nation of Islam. Yet, at some point, even he grew to a point where he recognized theerr of his beliefs in excluding so many others. At this point, there is very little positivity to be gained from continuing down this path. You don’t agree with Islam. So what is the use in belaboring the point?

You have chosen to condemn millions of people based on the actions of a few. II pray that I, as a Christian, am not judged based on the attitude of those like you. For that would be just as grave an injustice as what you are serving on the wonderful citizens of this City. I am just thankful that you have neither a heaven nor a hell to put a single person into. That responsibility belongs solely to God, who knows the heart and spirit of every being who walks this earth. If we were to follow the teachings of the Bible, then I am sure that you are aware that we are to love EVERYONE… not just those who are like us and not just those who agree with us. For the breath of life wasn’t given only to Christians, it is in every living being, so we are all His children and shouldn’t we respect one another as such? I don’t agree with you are what you appear to stand for, but I love you as a child of the Divine and I pray that you are able to find some peace. For the anger that you are spreading is rooted within your spirit and it is only within that place in you that you will ever be able to find the peace that comes from loving all men, just as Jesus taught.

Valarian, Please read my post to Felicity on the Subject of Christ before you make any more condemnations.  Should I feel happiness about watching my uncle being killed in the aircraft that hit the World Trade Center, should I want to hug the pilot of the aircraft that took him to his horrible death for no reason but hate.  I do feel angry but never to the point of killing innocent individuals.  For this act of terror I will never forgive nor forget however I would never encourage or support others to do the same.

      Richard,
I am not asking you to not be angry with those individuals, I am saying that to condemn an entire faith for the behavior of their extremeists is unfair. But like I said before, you have already made up your mind, so we can talk to you until the cows come home and it won't change your view. I hope that you are able to find your peace at some point, but it's not something that any individual here can give you. It will come from a place within you.

Dear Richard; this is my last response to your silly comments, and reading more of your anger, hatred and ignorance.
There are some people the anger and hatred has taken over their life and they have their eyes and hearts covered with a dark cloud or just darkness no matter how much light you give them they will never see the light, I hope that you will not be one of those people, and don't go to your grave full of hatred, you can call us all the names you want to call, but for your information Islam will continue to grow at a high rate all over the world, as a matter of fact Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world especially in the USA, and it is not being forced on people like you seem to think, go ahead and enlighten yourself and widen your horizon, and start to see the light and get out of the hatred you have for mankind period.
All I can do is ask God to help you and show you the right path and I do wish you the best of luck in all of your endeavors in life so you can go on forward and excel.
I have told you before I am willing to talk to you one on one and give you all the time you need.
I also want to what have you done for America yet. at least I as a Muslim have served my country as a soldier in the US ARMY.

UNCLE SAME SAYS TO YOU RICHARD; I WANT YOU.

For your information I served 8 years in the United States Air Force two of them in Dharan Saudi Arabia and two in Adana Turkey and one in Libya when we had Wheelus AFB there before Mohamar and one in the USA and I did it voluntarily.  I did not ask for your response you did it on your own, however I was not going to let you get away with your assumption that I had not served in our country's military.
