Ego.  There are similar conflicts around the world which arise from people forgetting that we're all connected.  What we do to the "other" we ultimately do to ourselves.

What we're experiencing with global warming is a clear metaphor that we sink or swim together.

Putting aside all the nuts from both sides ... most Israelis and Palestinians that I met in Israel would actually love to have a chance to meet each other and be able to spend time together. Unfortunately religion's become a tool for some nut-jobs and ordinary citizens are paying for it.

I recently watched the movie 'The Bubble' which is about Israeli and Palestinian young people opposing the occupation and seeking peace together...very interesting movie...

  8. MaRyMaRy wrote ∼Thursday, May 08

The first obstacle is for the world to accept there is an illegal occupation and every level of war crime taking place on an entire people thanks to the support of our taxes and our silence.  The same people who had been violently displaced and murdered themselves are committing the same acts today on an entire race.  The difference is the world has it eyes closed and have been fed to believe those in the Middle East deserve the injustice brought to them.  We blame it on politics and religion when Judaism and Islam go hand in hand--neither religion promotes these acts of poverty, injustice, violence, or oppression.   In fact, we are more family than any level of enemy.  Ultimately, it is up to us to open our ears, clean out our eyes, and start promoting humanity...Israel does not belong to the Jews or Palestinians--it belongs to the people of God.  We must step up against our ill leaders (US, MidEast), end the occupation, provide a state for each, educate, and starting promoting love for all.  Yep.

What do you think it was before America and Bush?

  11. MaRyMaRy wrote ∼Thursday, May 15

America has all ways been the main obstacle for peace.  Their support for Israel is due to their lack of support for the suffering of Jews during World War 2.  America funded and continues to fund Israels illegal settlements, military, occupation, and its overall well being.   The state of Israel would not have taken place if America did not provide military support during the 1967 war.  Our tax dollars until this day support the state of Israel versus American's living in poverty and so on.

I think the biggest obstacle to peace between Israel and Palestine IS the unwillingness of the majority of the Israelis to see the Palestinian people eye to eye that they are on the same level as humans. Put the racial and superiority feeling aside, I believe the two can talk and negotiate what is bilaterially can be achieved for the common good and peace to every party involved. Of course, this statement of mine is an OVERSIMPLICATION of a problem that has been compounded by other factors, especially politics, over 60 years.

The apparent intransigence of the Israeli government and the support for its negative stance by the U.S. government.  Likewise, a clear lack of support for the Palestinian people on the part of the current American administration.

  19. bringingtharuckus Tourist from Lower East Side wrote ∼Wednesday, May 28

Israelis and Bush recently reaffirming the "Jewishness" of Israel. Which means a fear of Palestinian Muslim citizenship in Israel. Which can lead to ethnic cleansing or at least give it a cultural and moral green light.

Let me sit on the other side of the table and look at it from an Israeli point of view. Muslims reaffirming Palestine as an Islamic entity. This does not prohibit Jewish citizenship. Historically proven.

One state solution where everyone gets an equal vote. I beleive this can glide with most Palestinians, starting with me. Land given back to refugees or compensation. Let the victim decide. I can take a sheet out of international lawsuits. Where Jews are given compensation by Germany for what happened in the early 1940's. I do not see why Palestinians can not be compensated for what happened in the late 1940's.

Time is on my side....Oh yes it is. Wink

before america and bush there was a fight but it was mainly between muslims and chritians for the jerusalem and jews were at the back side to it all and supporting chritians

jews are not bad people but some of them who are power ful are the wrong ones and

in world war 2 when they were kicked out of europe the world of west gave them place in arab and gave the world terrorism and controversy why didnt they gave them place in europe it self or in america and given in palestine

palestini people welcomed them to live with them as cousins but when jews throwed palestinies out of their lands and when they want their home back they are saying they are terrorists where is the justice?

its like when i call some stranger to live in my house after some time he kicks me out of my house and when i shout outside my house to give it back the stranger says i am terrorist

what kind of justice is that?

the whole matter would have been solved long ago but the western countries are interested in oil and selling weopons and for that in world there should be some controversy so they suport israel in its wrong cause and making it difficult to prevail peace

can you tell us some solution?

The kuffar and lack of Muslim unity, true. Although, I think to help solve the problem there must be unity among all three of the major religion of the Middle East as well. Also, acceptance. Wish neither side is willing to budge on.

In 1948, Palestine cease to exist and Israel state came into modern existence. The United States and Israel have been allies ever since. The amount (we are talking BILLIONS) of "Financial Aid" the United States gives to Israel, is a large part of the problem.

Both sides are guilty of horrific acts or terror and violence. But, Israel's persistent attempts to secure its place in this region by military force have always generated a greater Arabs will to fight it - By any means necessary...right or wrong.

Not too many of People like the in the Picture above. Greed, close minds, and the abuse of the words Religion and God. Israel was created by Secular, socialist movement for the ionists and not all Jews. To have PEACE we need to accept each other, all Palestinians to go back home if they want to. Secular democracy  where all are equals.

People are the obstcal & the American Policy in the Middle East. :-) BTW the conflict is not based on religion... Read the history Arabs are Christian, Jews & Muslims who lived in peace for centuries, read the history of the Arab rules (Moslem and none) in Europe (Spain, Sicily, Malta, etc) and you will find all lived in Peace..

     salaam alaykum ..

i think the United Nation has to step up and look at the attrocities and torture that is being done to palestinian people . they had nothing to do with the holocaust that hitler did .the palestinians did not cause any harm to the jews .  they are innocent people .the zionist regime bomb their houses , gas stations, schools, parks, roads, bridges , and everything around them randomly . and drag them out of their houses and kill them . do you think that it is FUCKIN fair .....does any one think that it is fair .no brain in this world think that there is an illegal occupation of the isrealies in that place ...

i think that USA should step aside and stop supporting the isrealies .. which is an illegal state based on the blood of poor palestinians .. israel should not be at the place where it is now ... israel should makeshift to another piece of land ..

please for GOD sake stop killing the palestinians ....ALLAH HU AKBAR .....ALLAH HU AKBAR ....." YA ALLAH MADAD ".....

The biggest obstacle is not religion, because religion has brought order and progress to mankind and led men out of oppression on a number of memorable occasions not just for Christmas.

Human rights violation in a modern state against its neighbours demands certain superiority complex like racism. From what I hav been told jewish minorities live peacefully in many parts of the world. May be the solution is in that simple fact. Happy birthday everybody.
