The known scientific world with the unknowable dimensions of God

Posted by kiakam on Thursday, March 13, 12:56 PM

Michael Heller was just awarded the Templeton Prize for his work.

"If we ask about the cause of the universe we should ask about the cause of mathematical laws. By doing so we are back in the great blueprint of God’s thinking about the universe, the question on ultimate causality: why is there something rather than nothing? When asking this question, we are not asking about a cause like all other causes. We are asking about the root of all possible causes. Science is but a collective effort of the human mind to read the mind of God from question marks out of which we and the world around us seem to be made"...

The thing I am curious in such scenarios, is the answer to the question: So, one day we find out the prime mover of the universe.. in a sense "god". Now what? How would you feel about God if we found out the answer to this question of  "ultimate causality".

Knowing that there is only one answer, one Truth, one center, one cause- we move beyond theoretical illusions and learn to make this world a better place...in any way possible...

Knowing an answer exists - one or more, isn't sufficient for me - knowing what the answer is would be.

What IS is infinite...

The ego delays our realization of the Oneness of reality by having us chase our tails with mental exercises.

All questions have answers otherwise the question could not be asked.  Perhaps more fundamental is who is asking the question.

I question a belief for which there appears to be no explanation, or one who can explain.
I question circular answers.
I question everything that I do not understand.
I question to learn.
I *don't* question other's beliefs, I only question what brought caused them to believe in the unprovable, and the inexplicable.

Good for you Venkman. Keep asking, keep questioning, keep growing, keep shining :)

Venkman,

PEACE.

What is a belief?

What is an answer that is circular?

What don't you understand?

What is learning?

It amazes me how loaded language can be.

We could be a million miles apart as far as our interpretations of meaning.  At best, on the level of meaning, we may enjoy some fuzzy overlap of our particular understanding of concepts.  Belief, Learning, Provable.  Rashomon.

It amazes me how we can "understand" one another at all on the level of interpretation...

A PERCEPTUAL ASIDE:

Sometimes when I lay on my arm, I wake up and my hand is asleep.  For a moment, it seems like someone else's hand although I know that it is my own.

* * * *

Perception is patently unreliable.  It is riddled with interpretation.  Interpretation is by definition, unoriginal.

Unoriginal.

LOL
Nice one. :) I don't think I can write like that.. I write like an engineer.. lol

Yes, perception is everything isn't it? No doubt about that.

However, one can believe to perceive a pink elephant in the room, while others don't.

One can offer a circular answer to, "why do you believe there is a pink elephant?" by saying "cuz its right there",

if one could fathom the reasoning behind why there is a pink elephant in the room and try to understand, maybe one would figure out that there wasn't one in the first place.. or maybe there was one and now there is a way to show others this pink elephant

One learns to recognize other such pink elephants that other's might perceive, and in the limited lives we are offered, why not know as much as we can about ourselves and our universe? (or in this case the nature of the pink elephant).

So, now you're all wondering how, this went from such a neat discussion about dimensions of understanding of universe and god, to .. pink elephants..
LOL .. my apologies in bringing the average down.. :P
