Eurovision: When did you start watching?

Posted by on Tuesday, April 03, 05:07 AM

I have to say the first time i watched the contest was in 2001, I remember the Olsen Bro's opening the show. and a girl coming on in Bair Feet to sing. I thought it was so odd.  I think i became a fan in 2005, after seeing Shiri and Helena Papariozu. I just loved the Music and the competition. And ofcourse my home country Got 2nd place in 2005 so ofcourse i was estacic over it then.

When did you first watch it? What did you think of it? Did u ever like any songs from the Contest?

The first competition I have ever watched was in 1974. We were in Germany then and this competition was an opportunity for us to hear and see something from Greece. Since then I have watched almost all of them (I missed it 4-5 times).
I can't say that I am a fan. But I like watching artists from all over Europe. The only thing that worries me is that all songs begin to look alike, lately.

Fav.song: Apre tois-Vicky Leandros (197???), Waterloo-ABBA (197??)
When I was a kid a was crazy about "Dshingisch Khan"(1979) - I hate it now Smile

Waterloo was in 1980...

I watch the contest since 2003. And I found it to be very very interesting. I love to hear the songs. And it doesn't matter to me whether they win or not.

i I was hooked when ABBA set the trend with their free flowing compositions, lost interest later when I discovered the quality music from elsewhere, Australia has a fantastic collection of good artists for its small population. Remember going to a New Year’s do in Germany X’mas 2000 and the band that played for 3000 did really suck!!  The chorus girls were out of tune and I thought: any Australian band doing the pub circuit would give these guys a run for their money
