I don't know if love can really last through the friendship since I have seen too many relationship break up for alot of reasons.  Some use to say that friends are better lovers but I don't know. I know that when two people become friends; there is a line that some should not cross but if you do cross that line; you should always remember you will be putting your friendship on the line.  I know that I am with my best friend but we talked about it and talked about it for years before pursuing this relationship that is most wonderful thing we ever been in.  We tried the relationship thing years ago but at the time I wasn't ready even though I loved him but knew it would be unfair to him and me if I went in the relationship if I was not ready to be loved and cared for in the right way.  I was a confused young woman at the time and I think that most women want that relationship where her male best friend is her lover but don't want to ruin the friendship they have.  Most women falls in love with her male best friend and don't act on it because of the friendship but most men don't look for that in a relationship as we do.  We want our mate to be our friend as well as our lover.  We want to be loved, respected, cared for, and shower us with roses, and tell us your deepest secrets, and those mushy things but most men won't go that far to be in the relationship since it isn't manly to do that kind of thing.  So tell me what do you think of this love thing and freindship.  I would love to hear your opinion on this subject.
